Adoring Black + Blue and Firmoo

Savoring Nature's Bliss

Perhaps it's due to the fact that we've had relatively mild winters the past few years... This year, I'm thoroughly enjoying the exquisite beauty of this magical season--more so than I have in quite some time.

Snow on the ground, a marked chill in the air... It all lends itself to what I envision December should be.  Oh yes--and wind--the kind that drifts the snow all about.  There's plenty of that, too, this year (that's why I have to hold onto my beanie--just to keep it in place!).

Thoughts on Creativity...

I find that my creative spirit is much like a muscle.  It needs to be used--frequently.

Life itself is comprised of a series of creative actions.  This realization has enabled me to mindfully use my creativity--and do so quite frequently.

I don't know that I believe in the concept of creative dry spells.  I think creativity is always present.  I simply need to trust in that fact, and move forward from there.  Sometimes, that feels like walking through a lake of wet cement.  That's okay though; it always results in a feeling of satisfaction afterward, and tangible results, too.

Relaxation as a Frame of Mind...

Last eve, I indulged in an hour-long massage at a nearby salon.  Trust me... It was one fab way to relax--no doubt!

What I've come to understand is relaxation is a frame of mind.  Sure, it's massage; but it's a whole lot more: it's engaging in moments of deep breathing, taking dedicated lunch breaks, savoring "me" time, and even selecting clothing that makes me feel comfortable.

These pics were taken last Thursday morning en route to Indiana (a six-hour car trip, BTW).  My goal was to dress comfortably; yet stylishly.  Doing so simply allowed me to relax a bit more (than I already was!).

Do You Double Leopard Print?

I have a rule of thumb--about style and life.  If it feels right, I go with it.

I have a name for this concept. I call it: "Wise Self Speaking." Me, going with my inner wisdom, might best be termed as "Wise Me Listening."

Sometimes, the call to wear double animal prints rings out loudly and clearly.  At other times, I'm happiest wearing one single statement piece (versus two).  To see a past post featuring double python print, click here. Wise Self always decides what's gonna work best.

Recycled Joy!

Thought I'd share my wonderful, environmentally friendly and budget savvy purchases made in Indiana last week.  The pic above was taken in the dressing room of Goodwill's Vintage Vogue in Bloomington, Indiana. It features the lovely cowgirl boots I purchased there.

I keep a list of items I'd love to purchase--should I encounter a fab deal or mint condition thrift/consignment shop offering.  On my list was a pair of cowgirl boots and a pair of saddle colored boots.  This purchase enables me to cross two goodies off my list (smile).

The boots I bought are Kinney (brand) and leather.  What do you think?  I believe I'm in love (wink!).

I also bought the leather cuff (featured above) at a sweet vintage consignment shop (Cactus Flower).  I truly question whether it's ever been worn or not!  This item (as well) was on my list.

Speaking of recycled... We brought the gorgeous library table shown (above and below) back with us.  It had been Mark's grandmother's.  His aunt was in the process of reorganizing/downsizing her home, and offered it to us.

It had the date 1910 scrawled on the bottom of it.  It's truly a treasure--now residing in our dining room.

There's nothing more fulfilling than giving unwanted items new homes, is there? Saving money and the environment--to me, it's simply joy incarnate!

There's No Place Like Home!

Late yesterday afternoon, we arrived back home after four fabulous days away.  You see, Mark and I took time to head back to Indiana to visit our families.  As part of this journey, we decided to carve out a day/night on our own as well...

We spent our time (alone, as a couple) in Bloomington, Indiana--a special place we always enjoy visiting together.  Somewhat to our surprise, a huge snow and ice storm hit, late the afternoon of our arrival.  Luckily, our hotel was within walking distance of everything we needed (shopping, restaurants, etc.).  Actually, it was a wonderfully festive experience--the snow, the lights, the holiday tunes (yum!).

Although our travels south of there the next day (where we set forth to be with our families) were (um) interesting (due to driving on a foot of snow packed atop several inches of ice), I treasure the restful, bountiful time spent with loved ones.  I must admit I was perhaps a bit too relaxed--as I inadvertently deleted (rejected) eight comments I had received for the blog--prior to heading off to my parents' house early Saturday morning.  My apologies to those involved!  

As much as I relish my time away, it sure is good to be back home again!  Joy, peace and a fab Monday to you!  T.
