What I Love about Polyvore...

Shoe Dreams...

Polyvore is fab, isn't it?  For us who might not have an opportunity to post photos (for example when snow and frigid temps prevail (as they have here)), we can share posts featuring our dream lists as well as thoughts on how to style what we already own.

The style board above features shoes I might considering buying (or, at least, dream about buying) this year...

Black Pumps: My beloved black pumps (purchased back in 2012 from Target) have seen better days.  As a result, I know that replacing is a distinct probability in my near future.

Converse Sneakers: I already own a couple of pair of Converse shoes (one pair black leather; the other gray canvas).  Something with a pop of brilliant color would be perfect for warmer weather.

A Unique Pair of Flats: I don't wear flats that often, but when I do, tend to choose a pair that's a bit exciting (e.g. gold-toned, leopard print, etc.).  These tortoise shell flats are just that!

Strappy, Kitten Heels: These strappy kitten heels would certainly not be a necessity purchase...  Nevertheless, this is a dream board, right?

Silver-toned Sandals: I've been wanting to purchase a pair of silver-toned sandals for a few years, now.  In 2015, I could possibly take the plunge (smile).

How to Style Pieces Similar to What I Own

The outfit board directly above features pieces similar to those I already own.  Yup, I'm dreaming of the day when a lace top + floral maxi skirt + light-weight Army jacket and heels (sans tights) are totally doable.  Right now, it's entirely too cold to sport this outfit! Who knows...maybe I could wear this ensemble some time in March... My green jacket would be perfect for wearing on St. Paddy's Day! Don't you think?

Do you Polyvore?  What do you love about it?  And, what do you think of these latest boards of mine?

Dreaming of WinterFest + Valentine's Day Attire...

Afternoon at the WinterFest

Valentine's Day is fast approaching! Locally, our community has an enchanting annual event known as "WinterFest."  Ice sculptures line our quaint, historic Main Street, and lots of fun celebratory happenings take place all weekend long (including a chili cook-off which includes vegetarian chili offerings (for folks like me!)).  This year's WinterFest takes place over the Valentine's Day weekend.

Of course, I'll likely need to don a coat, hat and gloves that day. Underneath it all, though, for an afternoon stroll (and possibly lunch at the chili cook-off), I could pretty much replicate the look above (sans the Daniel Wellington watch--that's a dream list item) with things I already own.  Yes, the booties are a bit more high-heeled than the ones I'd wear that day, but...you, get the idea (gray suede booties), yes ?

Valentine's Evening

Mark and I already have dinner reservations for Valentine's Day evening at a fave restaurant.  The pieces I've featured above are (once again) akin to things hanging in my own closet (see a recent review of a very similar dress here). I'm looking forward to getting dressed up that night!

Would love to hear your thoughts on these style selections, and what you might wear to similar events on your calendar!

Joy & peace! T.

Dreaming of Springtime in Galoshes...

Rainy Afternoon at the Museum

The Polar Vortex of 2015 has arrived.  It's snowy and frigidly cold here in Northwest Ohio. In fact, this latest little round of winter has prevented my picture taking efforts this entire week (sigh).

As a result, today's post is one dedicated to much warmer times... You see, I'm planning a little getaway (in the springtime) to Washington D.C., and (of course) I'm already thinking about what to wear.  Given the fact my trip will take place during the rainy season, I'm thinking I should plan on it raining at least one day while I'm there.  This means I may need to invest in a pair of Hunter boots (red ones; specifically).  Aside from the boots, I own clothing items very similar to the other ones featured on these Polyvore style boards and could easily replicate both looks.

The top style board conveys a look that is perfect for a rainy afternoon at a museum. Don't you think?

Rainy Evening Out

Then, there is a night out on the town... Of course, if it's not raining, I'd don my red open toed Nine West heels (which I adore) with the "out to dinner and drinks" ensemble featured directly above.  If it's raining, however, what do you think about pairing a pair of shiny (red) Hunter boots with a black sheath dress (as I've done here)? Would you wear tights with them or not?

Would love hearing your thoughts?  Stay warm, my Friends!  With any luck, I'll have outfit pictures to feature next week!

Joy & hugs, T.

Kendra Thornton Fashion Challenge

Elegant Evening Out at the Biltmore Coral Gables

Recently, I was contacted by travel expert, Kendra Thornton.  She invited me to participate in an exclusive project entitled, "Kendra's Miami Fashion Challenge!" The challenge: design and submit a proposed style board for her upcoming romantic getaway (sans children and with hubby) to the historic hotel, The Biltmore Miami-Coral Gables

Here's what Kendra told me:

"As an avid traveler, I know that the right look can help make a vacation special. Thanks to Gogobot's firsthand reviews, I was able to find the perfect luxurious hotel in Miami for my upcoming romantic getaway. Now all I have to do is find a wardrobe that blends chic sophistication with trendy timelessness. A focal point of our stay in Miami will be the historic Biltmore Hotel. In 1994, the hotel became the first, and so far only, hotel in Florida to be designated a National Historic Landmark. Fully restored thanks to a federal program, the hotel has regained its status as a preferred destination for heads-of-state, dignitaries, and other members of the jet-set.
While I can't wait to take advantage of some of the hotel's more than 100 weekly exercise classes, I'm equally excited to experience the spa's incredible couples' massages and relaxing saunas. Of course, while I can't wait to get a makeover and have my hair done by top beauticians, my husband can't stop talking about spending time on the well-known hole-in-one golf course. After a day of relaxation, my next outfit needs to be perfect for enjoying the fine dining experience at the hotel's Palme d'or restaurant.  Afterward, it's off to the wine cellar club to choose from more than 100 wines and a variety of interesting cocktails. Thanks to Gogobot, I know my trip to the Biltmore is bound to be a fabulous experience. Just as importantly, I know that with the help of your awesome fashion blog, I'll be able to look my best while enjoying everything the hotel has to offer!"
Given my adoration for dressing up, I designed the board above (via Polyvore) for Kendra's dinner at Palme D'or (yum!) and wine sipping afterwards at The Cellar Club. This ensemble is exotically festive (perfect for Miami!); yet, it has "chic" written all over it.  Don' you think?

A huge thanks to Kendra for extending me an opportunity to participate in this design challenge!  Lovely readers, please let me know your thoughts on what I have crafted.

Joy & peace, T.
