What I Love about Polyvore...

Shoe Dreams...

Polyvore is fab, isn't it?  For us who might not have an opportunity to post photos (for example when snow and frigid temps prevail (as they have here)), we can share posts featuring our dream lists as well as thoughts on how to style what we already own.

The style board above features shoes I might considering buying (or, at least, dream about buying) this year...

Black Pumps: My beloved black pumps (purchased back in 2012 from Target) have seen better days.  As a result, I know that replacing is a distinct probability in my near future.

Converse Sneakers: I already own a couple of pair of Converse shoes (one pair black leather; the other gray canvas).  Something with a pop of brilliant color would be perfect for warmer weather.

A Unique Pair of Flats: I don't wear flats that often, but when I do, tend to choose a pair that's a bit exciting (e.g. gold-toned, leopard print, etc.).  These tortoise shell flats are just that!

Strappy, Kitten Heels: These strappy kitten heels would certainly not be a necessity purchase...  Nevertheless, this is a dream board, right?

Silver-toned Sandals: I've been wanting to purchase a pair of silver-toned sandals for a few years, now.  In 2015, I could possibly take the plunge (smile).

How to Style Pieces Similar to What I Own

The outfit board directly above features pieces similar to those I already own.  Yup, I'm dreaming of the day when a lace top + floral maxi skirt + light-weight Army jacket and heels (sans tights) are totally doable.  Right now, it's entirely too cold to sport this outfit! Who knows...maybe I could wear this ensemble some time in March... My green jacket would be perfect for wearing on St. Paddy's Day! Don't you think?

Do you Polyvore?  What do you love about it?  And, what do you think of these latest boards of mine?

Joy & peace, T.

Style: Rich Details...

Years ago, while vacationing in Pennsylvania, my youngest, oh-so-precocious son (then, in grade school) looked at me (approvingly) and told me ( in earnest), "Mom, you dress rich."  It made me smile, then; and, it still does, now (a little more than 15 years later).

It doesn't take a lot of money to "dress rich."  In fact, anyone can do it.  Here are a few of my "tips" for adding "rich" details to whatever you're wearing...

Wear an animal print (or two). Doing so in small does (e.g. via an accessory (like a scarf) or a blouse tail peeking out from underneath a sweater (like my python print blouse is), works well.

Carry a structured, good-quality handbag. The one I'm toting is a well-made classic.  Best yet...I scored this mint beauty for $38 at an antique shop while traveling last spring.

Sport a quality statement clothing piece. My vintage J.Crew bomber jacket fits the bill...

Don't be afraid to layer! This time of year, layering keeps me warm.  Aside from that, though, it ramps up the chic factor by creating added interest to any ensemble.

Leather Bomber Jacket: Vintage J.Crew (Etsy)
Sunnies: c/o Firmoo
Scarf: Boutique along Lake Erie (Sawmill Creek Resort)
Sweater: Vintage (Sportables)
Blouse: Lucky Brand
Jeans: Calvin Klein
Boots: Vintage Kinney (Vintage Vogue, Bloomington, IN)
Gloves: Vintage Coach (gifted)
Handbag: Vintage Dooney & Bourke (Old Capital Antiques, Frankfort, KY)

What are your suggestions for creating a "rich" look to any ensemble? Would love hearing them!

Joy, hugs and peace! T.

Dreaming of WinterFest + Valentine's Day Attire...

Afternoon at the WinterFest

Valentine's Day is fast approaching! Locally, our community has an enchanting annual event known as "WinterFest."  Ice sculptures line our quaint, historic Main Street, and lots of fun celebratory happenings take place all weekend long (including a chili cook-off which includes vegetarian chili offerings (for folks like me!)).  This year's WinterFest takes place over the Valentine's Day weekend.

Of course, I'll likely need to don a coat, hat and gloves that day. Underneath it all, though, for an afternoon stroll (and possibly lunch at the chili cook-off), I could pretty much replicate the look above (sans the Daniel Wellington watch--that's a dream list item) with things I already own.  Yes, the booties are a bit more high-heeled than the ones I'd wear that day, but...you, get the idea (gray suede booties), yes ?

Valentine's Evening

Mark and I already have dinner reservations for Valentine's Day evening at a fave restaurant.  The pieces I've featured above are (once again) akin to things hanging in my own closet (see a recent review of a very similar dress here). I'm looking forward to getting dressed up that night!

Would love to hear your thoughts on these style selections, and what you might wear to similar events on your calendar!

Joy & peace! T.

The Gift of Self-Grace

Hopefully this post finds you well-rested, relaxed and blissful! This evening, I'm practicing a spot of self-grace; funneling some of my "to do's" onto tomorrow's agenda, and taking added time to "recharge" a bit more (post an incredibly busy last week).

You see, this whole weekend has been an exercise in self-grace.  I've enjoyed quality time with Mark, read a book, and made a salon pedi a priority over household chores. And...I'm super-proud of my efforts (smile).

 Poncho: Ralph Lauren
Sweater: Jeanne Pierre (T.J. Maxx)
Jeans: J.Crew Factory
Boots: Nine West
Sunnies: Ray Ban
Handbag: Vera Bradley
Cashmere Gloves: Moschino (gifted)

Share with me your most recent gift of self-grace.  Would love hearing about it!

Joy & peace, T.
