Today (and every day), treat yourself as you would your own child, beloved soul mate or dearest friend. Listed below are some of my favorite ways to do so:
- Write a love or thank you note to yourself;
- Place fresh flowers in your workspace;
- Sleep in;
- Nap;
- Stargaze;
- Watch the sun set;
- Tell yourself how wonderful you are!
- Paint in your art journal;
- Buy yourself a postcard displaying a work of art (you decide if it's a work of art or not!). Send it to someone you care about;
- Dedicate time to feed your mind (read a non-fiction text or a magazine, view a documentary);
- Breathe through a challenge;
- Meditate;
- Browse a craft store;
- Savor a matinee solo;
- Engage in mindfulness;
- Take yourself out to a vegan or organic lunch;
- Go on a walk in nature;
- Buy a tin of tea. Take it home and sip it from a china tea cup (Don't have one? Buy one from a yard sale or thrift store);
- Read and/or write outdoors;
- Buy a scented candle from the dollar store; light it while bathing;
- Snuggle with a favorite blanket or wrap;
- Using lavender-scented hand lotion, give yourself a hand massage during a mid-morning break;
- Schedule a date with yourself;
- Download an app for your phone; dedicate time to use it/play with it;
- Give gratitude as you drive to work;
- Strike a yoga pose (or two) while listening to a Pandora station (suggestion: Madeleine Peyroux);
- Listen to vintage jazz tunes in front of the fireplace; and
- Enjoy a rainy afternoon in a second-hand bookstore.
